Air India has announced that it will resume flights from the USA to India starting September 2020. This is good news for passengers who have been waiting to travel to India. The flights will operate three times a week and will be available to book starting August 2020.

Air India to Introduce New Routes

Air India is set to introduce two new routes connecting the United States with India. The new routes will operate between Delhi and San Francisco, and Delhi and Newark.

The flights will be operated by Air India’s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which are equipped with 18 fully lie-flat seats in business class, 28 seats in premium economy, and 247 seats in economy class.

The new flights will offer passengers greater choice and flexibility when travelling between the two countries, and will also provide a boost to Air India’s connectivity in the United States.

Air India to Increase Flights to India

Air India will increase its flights to India from the United States starting in September, the airline announced Monday.

The move comes as Indian airlines look to capitalize on the growing number of Indian-Americans traveling between the two countries.

Air India will add 14 flights a week between New York and Mumbai, for a total of 21 flights a week. It will also add seven flights a week between San Francisco and Delhi, for a total of 14 flights a week.

The additional flights will be operated with Boeing 777 aircraft.

Air India currently operates daily flights between New Delhi and New York, Newark, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. It also operates daily flights between Mumbai and New York, Newark and Chicago.


As of now, Air India is the only airline flying non-stop between India and the USA. The airline offers three weekly flights between Delhi and New York, as well as two weekly flights each between Mumbai and Newark, and Mumbai and San Francisco. Prices for flights from the USA to India start at around $700.
