Harry and Meghan’s Relationship
How they met
The story of how Harry and Meghan met is pretty darn romantic. It was the summer of 2016, and Meghan had just started filming the USA Network’s legal drama Suits. A mutual friend set the two of them up on a blind date, and, as they say, the rest is history.
The couple kept their relationship under wraps for about six months before it became public knowledge. In November 2016, they made their first official appearance together at the Invictus Games in Toronto.
Just after noon on Monday, November 27, Kensington Palace made an exciting announcement: Prince Harry is engaged to Meghan Markle.
The two met in July 2016 after being introduced by a mutual friend, and they began dating shortly thereafter. In September 2017, Harry took Markle on a romantic trip to Africa, where they camped under the stars in Botswana and visited the working farm in Lesotho that Harry founded in 2006.
Harry proposed to Meghan earlier this month (they have not revealed the exact date) with a stunning engagement ring that he helped design himself. The diamond in the center is from Botswana, and the two smaller diamonds on either side are from his late mother Princess Diana’s personal collection.
In May 2018, it was announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would marry on 19 May 2018 at Windsor Castle. The couple had become engaged earlier that month, after a 16-month whirlwind romance. The announcement was made by Kensington Palace via Twitter, with a statement that read: “His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex is delighted to announce that he and Miss Meghan Markle are engaged to be married.”
The bride-to-be’s parents also released a statement, saying they were “Incredibly happy” for the couple and “thrilled” that their daughter would marry Prince Harry. On the day of the announcement, the couple posed for photographers at Kensington Palace, with Harry saying he was “thrilled” and Meghan calling it “very romantic”.
A few days later, it was revealed that the engagement ring contained two diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal collection, as well as a central diamond from Botswana, a country close to Harry’s heart.
Harry and Meghan’s Life Together
Harry and Meghan are two of the most popular people in the world. They got married in 2018 and have been living together ever since. They are often in the news because of their work or their personal life. Today, we’re going to take a look at some of the latest news about Harry and Meghan.
Their life in the UK
Since their engagement announcement in November 2017, Harry and Meghan have made 16 official appearances together in the United Kingdom.
The couple’s first joint engagement of 2018 was a visit to Brixton radio station Reprezent FM on January 9. The following day they attended the Nationalservice of Thanksgiving at St. Martin-in-the-Fields to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the British Council.
January 2018 also saw Harry and Meghan carry out their first engagement as a couple with members of the royal family, when they joined The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and other senior royals at a Sunday service at Sandringham.
Their life in the US
On March 19, 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, announced that they were stepping back from their roles as senior royals. The couple has since relocated to Santa Barbara, California, where they have been hotly tipped to sign a mega deal with Netflix.
The duke and duchess have kept a relatively low profile since moving to the US, but they have slowly been doing more media appearances and giving insights into their new life. Here’s a look at what we know so far about Harry and Meghan’s current lifestyle.
They are living in a secluded mansion in Santa Barbara worth $14.65 million.
The couple is homeschooling their son Archie and plan to raise him as a vegan.
They have hired several nannies to help with childcare duties.
They are said to be extremely hands-on parents.
They are both working on several charity projects.
Harry is also said to be working on his mental health amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Harry and Meghan’s Future
Harry and Meghan have made the decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family. They will be splitting their time between the UK and North America, and will be working to become financially independent. This decision was not made lightly, and they hope to continue to serve the Queen and the Commonwealth.
Their plans for the future
Harry and Meghan have said they plan to become “financially independent” and work to become “subsidiary royals.”
Here’s a look at what that could mean for the couple and the monarchy:
– Dramatic changes to the monarchy: If Harry and Meghan become financially independent, it could upend the monarchy as we know it. The couple would no longer be reliant on funds from the sovereign grant, which is taxpayer money that covers 5% of the monarchy’s costs.
– A smaller royal household: If Harry and Meghan are no longer receiving money from the sovereign grant, they may need to downsize their royal household. This could mean letting go of some staff members and scaling back on their official duties.
– Less money for charities: Harry and Meghan are patron of numerous charities, many of which rely on funding from the couple. If they become financially independent, they may have to cut back on their charitable work.
– Essentials only: The couple has said they want to live a more simple life, which could mean giving up some of their more lavish lifestyle.
Their possible return to the UK
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s possible return to the UK for Meghan’s grandfather’s funeral is “very much up in the air”, a royal source has said.
While the couple are thought to be keen to make the trip, they are also mindful of the “complexities” surrounding any travel during the pandemic, the source added.
Thomas Markle Sr is understood to have passed away overnight at the age of 99.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are aware of the passing of Meghan’s grandfather, Thomas Markle. We extend our condolences to Her Majesty The Queen, Mr Markle’s daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.”
