Air India
Air India is the national flag carrier airline of India, headquartered in New Delhi. It is operated by a subsidiary of Air India Limited, a government-owned enterprise. The airline operates a fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft serving 94 domestic and international destinations. It has its main hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, with secondary hubs at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata.
Jet Airways
Jet Airways, India’s leading international airline, commenced operations in May 1993. Headquartered in Mumbai, Jet Airways currently operates a fleet of over 100 aircraft, which includes 11 Boeing 777-300 ERs, 8 Airbus A330-200/300s, 3 ATR 72-500s and 80 Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft. The airline has a strong domestic network spanning the length and breadth of the country covering key metropolitan cities, business hubs and holiday destinations.
United States
The United States has announced that it will resume international flights to India starting next week. This is great news for travelers who have been eagerly awaiting the return of flights between the two countries. The resumption of flights will help to boost the economies of both countries and will make it easier for people to visit loved ones.
United
The United States is banning all flights from India starting May 4 due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country, the US Transportation Department said on Friday. The department is issuing an order that will prohibit US air carriers from operating passenger and cargo flights between the two countries.
The department said it will continue to monitor the situation and may revise the order as necessary.
Delta
As of May 22, Delta is operating a limited number of flights to India. The airline is currently flying to Mumbai and Delhi from its hub in Atlanta, and plans to resume service to Chennai (MAA) on June 2. All other flights to India from the United States have been suspended until further notice.
Travelers should check the latest entry requirements for India before booking a flight. Entry into the country is currently restricted to Indian nationals and foreign nationals with a valid residence permit. All visitors must undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon arrival.
Delta is waiving change fees for tickets booked through August 31, 2020, for travel to all destinations. Customers can also rebook their flights for travel through December 31, 2021.
American Airlines
American Airlines has announced that it will resume its flights between the United States and India starting December 12. The flights will operate once a week between Delhi and Dallas/Fort Worth. American had suspended its flights to India in late March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The airline will initially operate the service with a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, which has a three-class configuration with 42 seats in business class, 28 in premium economy, and 251 in economy. The flight time from Delhi to Dallas/Fort Worth is approximately 15 hours and 40 minutes.
“We are pleased to resume our flights between the United States and India,” said Vasu Raja, American’s senior vice president of network and schedule planning. “There is strong demand for travel between our two countries, and we are confident that this service will be successful.”
Other airlines
Late on Wednesday, United Airlines became the fourth and final US airline to announce it would resume limited service to India starting next week. The resumption of flights is a significant development because it means that all four major US airlines will now be flying to India again after suspending service due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
British Airways
British Airways has announced that it will resume flights from the USA to India from December 2020. The airline will operate three flights per week from London Heathrow to Delhi and Mumbai. Tickets are now on sale on the British Airways website.
Emirates
The Government of India has issued a revised travel advisory, effective from September 28, 2020. The advisory strongly advises against all travel to Israel, Qatar, and the UAE. For those who must travel to these destinations, the advisory recommends that travelers avoid all nonessential travel and follow strict safety measures put in place by local authorities.
Emirates will be resuming flights to Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad from October 1st. The airline will operate two daily services to Mumbai and Delhi, and one daily service to Hyderabad. All flights will be operated by Emirates’ Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class configuration.
Qatar Airways
Qatar Airways offers flights from the USA to India with a short stopover in Doha, Qatar. The airline has a good reputation for safety and comfort, and offers competitive prices.
