CNN

CNN was founded in June 1980 by American media proprietor Ted Turner as a 24-hour cable news channel. Upon its launch, CNN was the first channel to provide 24-hour television news coverage, and was the first all-news television channel in the United States. CNN is owned by Turner Broadcasting System, a division of AT&T’s WarnerMedia. It is one of the world’s largest news organizations and has 38 bureaus, 11 domestic and 26 international.

History

CNN was founded in 1980 by American media mogul Ted Turner. The first 24-hour news channel in the United States, CNN was a response to the then-fledgling Cable News Network that Turner created in 1980.

With its 24/7 news coverage, CNN quickly became a go-to source for breaking news. The network was first to report on major stories such as the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, the Tiananmen Square massacre, and the 9/11 attacks.

In the 1990s, CNN began to branch out beyond hard news with talk shows, human interest stories, and documentaries. The network has since become known for its coverage of major events such as presidential elections and natural disasters.

Today, CNN is available in over 200 million homes worldwide and remains one of the most watched news channels in the United States.
